I joined the lab in November 2025 as an intern to enrich my ecology interest alongside my degree. During this time, I have helped with deploying bat detectors in field, ensuring detection software is up to date, working with acoustic data and beginning to work on our lab’s social media for outreach. I am excited to be joining the lab for my placement year (2026-27) and look forward to continuing all of the work I have been doing and more!

My interest in conservation has expanded to include a strong passion for science communication. I hope to participate in outreach and inform people about the wonders of the natural world. During outreach, I can utilise my knowledge from the behavioural ecology and field trip modules from my degree, as well as my field experience from being a research assistant in Croatia and volunteering with loggerhead sea turtles in Greece. My scientific interest in bats begun during the data collection expedition in Croatia where I got to witness harp traps and mist nets in action. This was also where I was first introduced to bat acoustics!

The natural world is truly fascinating, and I want to share my love for it with others. Passing on joy and curiosity is one of the main ways we can work to conserve our world’s biodiversity.
