In 2025 we started working with a network of biodiversity friendly farmers in the Cotswolds called the South Cotswolds Fosse Farm Cluster. Through this farming network we are working closely to develop long-term biodiversity and bat surveying to inform biodiversity friendly farming practices throughout the landscape.
Funded by DEFRA we are conducting systematic acoustic surveys at each farm to understand how bats are using the farming landscape.
We will be working with farmers throughout this project, and hosting a farmer workshop in January 2027. Through the workshop we hope to identify the needs of farmers and to inform bat friendly habitat management going forward.
We aim to develop a long term farm monitoring programme and identify research projects to answer key questions to evidence biodiversity friendly farming practices.
