Role: Project Officer

Project: North Somerset Bat Survey

Email: northsomersetbats@bath.ac.uk

My drive for conservation and research derived from my career in zoological collections where I started as a zoo keeper. I have a very keen interest in nocturnal mammals which lead me to carrying out my MRes at the University of the West of England.

I published my MSc thesis on the effect of artificial UV-B provision on positional sleeping behaviour and vitamin D3 metabolites of captive aye-ayes (Daubentonia madagascariensis). In more recent years I have focused my efforts on UK native species and am a hobbyist beekeeper in my spare time.

I currently work as the Project Officer for North Somerset Bat Survey helping to support our vital volunteers and carry out our school outreach program to help inspire young children on our amazing UK native bat species and educate on how we can all help preserve these wonderful nocturnal creatures.
